Can chiropractic help you?
Your nervous system controls and regulates every cell of your body. When your nervous system doesnâ?(TM)t function correctly, you canâ?(TM)t function at your highest level.
Your nervous system is the Master system of the body. It controls all of the other systems in concert with your endocrine system, and it controls your endocrine system, telling your body more of this and less of that is needed to maintain homeostasis, or balance. Nerve impulses can be compromised from postural distortions and from the resulting inflammation and other effects of postural distortions or lesions. The result is incomplete or improper messages being delivered to the various organs and systems of the body resulting in improper function or upset of homeostasis.
Chiropractors conduct tests to determine what nerves may be compromised or affected by subluxations, which is the chiropractors name for the various mal-alignments of vertebral bones which result in nervous interference. With the information gained by testing and observation as well as other methods of determination, your chiropractor can determine the best way to reposition the vertebrae involved and restore best possible function to your body, resulting in a better state of homeostasis and therefore functioning of all your systems.
Chiropractors believe that true health is a state of optimum bodily function. When the nervous system and the other systems of the body are working together in a manner that represents the highest level of balance attainable by that body. Many other people and even health professionals, believe that health is a state of absence of symptoms. If you feel OK, then you are OK. This sort of thinking is what leads people to believe that drugs are the answer to any health problem. If you have pain, you take a painkiller, then youâ?(TM)re OK. But what does that painkiller do to correct the cause of pain? If I take a painkiller because my leg is broken and it hurts, and the pain goes away, my leg is still broken. If I have a foodborne illness and I take an anti-emetic so as not to throw up, I still have food poisoning, I may feel better, but Iâ?(TM)m not better. Pain is part of your bodyâ?(TM)s systems and exists in order to communicate to you the fact that something is wrong. If the light on your dashboard is on telling you that you have no oil in your engine do you put tape over the light or cut the wire to solve the problem? No, you do something about your oil. Chiropractic works on this principle. Solve the problems and the symptoms will clear, not solve the symptoms and then you can ignore the problem.
