Cameron K. Rokhsar, M.D., F.A.A.D., F.A.A.C.S., an internationally renowned laser surgeon, is a Board Certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained cosmetic and laser surgeon in private practice in Manhattan and Long Island. He practices cosmetic and general dermatology with a particular focus on laser and other non surgical treatments, aesthetic enhancements with fillers, Mohs Micrographic Surgery, minimally invasive liposuction, and the treatment of acne and acne scars.
Dr. Rokhsar is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University and attended medical school at The New York University School of Medicine where he received his doctorate of medicine. After his internship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, he completed his dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City where he was honored for his teaching and leadership skills as Chief Resident. In addition, Dr. Rokhsar received fellowship training in cosmetic, laser and dermatologic surgery in San Diego, California.
In his career, Dr. Rokhsar has been involved in the development of several laser systems and has conducted pivotal research projects to develop protocols for other laser systems. In particular, Dr. Rokhsar was involved in the development of the Fraxel laser technology, having worked with the prototype device for about a year in 2003. Fraxel, has since become the number one laser resurfacing procedure in the world. Dr. Rokhsar introduced the Fraxel laser technology in Tremblant, Canada in 2004 and has since introduced fractional resurfacing to various parts of the world including Europe, South America, Asia, and Russia. Dr. Rokhsar has taught more physicians in the United States and around the world on the use of Fraxel for fractional resurfacing than any other physician. Dr. Rokhsar also conducted the early clinical trials for portrait resurfacing and has been involved in clinical trials for testing on a variety of other technology based devices, including the Pulse Dye Laser, Thermage, Ulthera, MiraDry, and various laser liposuction systems.
Dr. Rokhsar has invented many non surgical facial enhancement procedures in his career. In 2003, Dr. Rokhsar invented the use of fillers for nose reshaping, now commonly referred to as the non surgical nosejob. He also developed the non surgical eyelift, which is a simple way to restore balance to the eyelids through a quick 15-minute filler procedure. He has performed these procedures live on numerous shows including the Rachel Ray show. A variety of News outlets including ABCnews, CBSnews, NBCnews, Foxnews, USA Today, and New York Newsday, have covered his innovative techniques and procedures.
Dr. Rokhsar lectures frequently on both a national and international scale. He is a frequent lecturer at American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Internationally he has lectured in Australia, Canada, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Russia.
Dr. Rokhsar is an extensively published medical author of several chapters in major medical textbooks. Dr. Rokhsar published the first report on the use of the Fraxel laser for scars, wrinkles and melasma. He also published the first scientific study on the use of fillers for the non surgical nose job. Dr. Rokhsar has completed multiple research projects in various laser applications as well.
Dr. Rokhsar is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and a Fellow of American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Rokhsar is active in several professional societies, including inclusion on the board of trustees for International Society of Cosmetic and Laser Surgeons, the Ethics Committee for American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Chair for the abstract session of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Rokhsar is a sought after consultant for laser technology companies.
