A Revolution in Physical Therapy

O.M.P.T means Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. O.M.P.T practitioners are highly educated, trained and practiced - far more than traditional physical therapists, with 2,000 hours of additional study and training.

O.M.P.T Specialists use hands-on techniques to improve range of motion and function while alleviating symptoms. Our advanced approach offers patients a better quality of care and, in the end, better results over traditional physical therapy treatments.

At O.M.P.T Specialists, there is another key difference: every patient is given one-on-one, custom care. In traditional physical therapy settings, one PT often handles several cases at a single time. But every O.M.P.T practitioner gives complete attention to a single patient, which in itself means better, more focused care.

And since a vast majority of O.M.P.T cases (approximately 99%) are covered by insurance, there is no additional cost for the patients for this better-quality care.
The O.M.P.T Difference

Traditional physical therapy focuses on the treatment of mere symptoms. Often this means an unresponsive treatment because the real cause of the problem may be located elsewhere. This treatment of â?oereferred pain? can lead to an inaccurate physical therapy evaluation and ineffective treatment.

Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy focuses on thorough, one-on-one evaluations by better-trained practitioners, hands-on techniques and cause-based treatments. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the quality of range of motion, maximizing function and comfort.

Facilities

O.M.P.T Specialists offers advanced patient care in a comfortable, welcoming environment that features high-tech equipment from Cybex, as well as a Triton traction table for neck and back patients. All of the equipment allow for controlled, safe treatments and, in the case of the Triton unit, provide in-depth printed reports that measure progress.

In addition to traditional physical therapy equipment, O.M.P.T Specialists is in the process of adding an aquatic therapy center for specialized, low-impact training and recovery. This addition is unique to the area, making us one of the only private clinics (not in a hospital) offering such an advanced treatment option.

Patient Testimonials

â?oeI first met Mr. Fahmy last year after I had my knee replacement surgery. Michael and his staff gave me the attention I needed. I have had several back and knee problems and he was there for me the whole time.
I think he is the best physical therapist I have ever met: besides being very competent Michael is helpful as well as personable. I would not go to anyone else; I even recommended him and his center to my own patients.?
- Dr. Krugel, Southfield, MI

â?oeI have been receiving physical therapy at O.M.P.T Specialists, Inc. The therapy provided in their facility is very high quality, utilizing state of the art equipment in a positive, collaborative environment. The therapists not only provide care for acute injury, but also assist their patients in planning for transition to independent continuation of exercise programs.
I am convinced that the use of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy has significantly contributed to the improvement of my spinal condition. The therapists at O.M.P.T Specialists are dedicated professionals who work hard to provide their patients with the best possible therapy.?
- Lisa M.
â?oeO.M.P.T is second to none. I began seeing an O.M.P.T specialist after an ankle replacement surgery last year, and rather than just doing simple exercises or balancing on a board, he worked with me through a variety of massages and strengthening techniques to loosen my Achilles and help me walk without pain.
My surgeon did a wonderful job but if it were not for O.M.P.T I would not be walking nearly as well as I am. They took the time to consult with my surgeon before proceeding with therapy - that was so important to me. All in all I was treated wonderfully by the entire staff.?
- Kate L., Bloomfield Township, MI

â?oeMr. Michael Fahmy was so efficient and dedicated. He displayed a professional, caring manner. I had a partially ruptured tendon in my left knee, and he helped me to overcome my disability in just a few weeks.?
- Manfred H., Waterford, MI
â?oeMy doctor wanted me to go to a regular physical therapy clinic but friends had told me about Michael and I insisted on seeing him. The difference is unbelievable. He pays attention to me and has helped me so much. He really cares about people and I have told my orthopedic surgeon about him.?
- Reinart G., Bloomfield Hills, MI

O.M.P.T. is a physical therapy company with some outstanding personnel, including a professor of physical therapy at Oakland University who is one of the most respected physical therapists in town, that being John Krause.
Not only have I sent many patients to this facility, but I have also used them personally. I have found them to be an outstanding physical therapy facility not only to deliver clinical rehabilitation, but they also demonstrated the ability to perform objective testing for functional capacity evaluations. I would not hesitate to use this facility for an objective, detailed functional capacity evaluation.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Ronald S. Lederman, M.D.

â?oeI was referred to O.M.P.T Specialists for therapy on severe areas of pain that I have been having which prevent me from exercising, especially walking. Initially, I was introduced to the water therapy called Hydro Track where the water is heated to a perfect temperature. The treadmill and two water jets that give resistance are extremely comforting as Iâ?(TM)m walking. It is truly a wonderful and satisfying experience. Iâ?(TM)m able to walk for long periods of time with absolutely no pain. I havenâ?(TM)t been able to say that for years. After my appointments, even days later, I still felt the benefits of the water therapy. I could feel improvement in all the major areas that I needed it like my legs with peripheral arteries completely clogged, joints in both knees, right hip, and cardiovascular problems. I feel I am able to get around a lot easier and think for the first time in years, I might be able to go the University of Michigan football games next season!?
- Dr. Robert Galin D.D.S.
A grateful patient to O.M.P.T, Hydro Track, and the O.M.P.T staff

â?oeAfter coming off knee surgery to replace a completely torn A.C.L, the Aqua Track is a perfect form of physical therapy for me. Unlike walking on solid ground, I am able to walk for an unlimited amount of time without experiencing any pain or agitation whatsoever because of the extremely low impact my knee endures. Although I am unable to jog more than 20 to 30 feet without feeling pain outside or on a standard treadmill, I can job for 10 minutes comfortably on the Aqua Track. Considering the fact that the water is heated to 98 degrees, I feel like Iâ?(TM)m getting a solid workout and strengthening my knee while taking a warm bath. I can honestly say that itâ?(TM)s probably the highlight of my week. I usually have to drag myself outside to go to the gym, but I truly look forward to coming here for therapy and the Aqua Track?.

â?oeThe Hydro Track underwater treadmill is great! It truly helped me â?oelearn? how to walk with my new hip resurfacing implant. The water supported my bad back and my new hip in such comfort that I was able to concentrate on my walking in a way that I had not been able to do on dry land. The water pressure and resistance and the viewing window gave my therapist the opportunity to more accurately see my muscles work in definition, to make suggestions for gait and adjustment and with my feedback to more precisely evaluate my status and progress. After just two sessions I felt as if I might be able to put my cane away. Thatâ?(TM)s tremendous because that second session took place only one month and two weeks after my hip resurfacing surgery. I tell everyone I meet who has had hip surgery or know someone who has had hip surgery to come to O.M.P.T Specialists to find an underwater treadmill to help them to recover. I would recommend that anyone who is in therapy for their back, lower extremities and walking to discuss with their O.M.P.T therapist the benefits they may gain from trying the underwater treadmill. â?oe
Thank you O.M.P.T!
